The ground beneath our feet is a dynamic system, constantly changing and profoundly impacting all life. Understanding these fundamental components is essential for comprehending our planet. By understanding the lithosphere and pedosphere, you will gain insight into the fundamental processes that shape our planet and sustain its ecosystems, enabling you to better comprehend environmental challenges and their solutions. What you'll learn: * Understand the composition and structure of Earth's lithosphere and its layers * Explore various landform types and the geological processes that create them * Learn about the formation, composition, and critical role of soil (pedosphere) * Identify the causes and consequences of land degradation and erosion * Analyze how geological and soil processes influence ecosystems and human societies * Understand the basic principles of sustainable soil management and conservation * Examine the influence of climate change on landforms and soil health This course begins with foundational concepts of Earth's structure, progressing to detailed explanations of landform creation, soil science, and environmental processes. It concludes by exploring the vital connections between these systems and life on Earth. This course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of geology or earth science. Begin your journey to understanding the living planet beneath your feet.
